  2. Go to your account settings
  3. Navigate to the 'Integrations' or 'API' section
  4. Generate a new API key
  5. Copy the key - you'll need it in the next step
info Keep your API key secure. Don't share it publicly or commit it to version control.

Connecting Your Account

  1. In CherryFill, go to Settings > Integrations
  2. Click 'Connect Tally'
  3. Paste your Tally API key
  4. Click 'Save' to verify and store the connection

Once connected, CherryFill will automatically sync your Tally forms. You can select any of your forms when creating a new timer.

How Response Linking Works

CherryFill automatically links exam sessions to Tally submissions using the Response ID:

The Linking Process

  1. 1 Respondent starts exam - CherryFill creates a session
  2. 2 Respondent completes and submits the Tally form
  3. 3 Tally sends a Response ID to CherryFill
  4. 4 CherryFill stores this ID with the submission record

Finding the Response ID in Tally

The Response ID stored by CherryFill matches Tally's internal submission ID. To find it in Tally:

  1. Go to your form in Tally
  2. Open the Submissions tab
  3. Export submissions as CSV
  4. The 'Response ID' column will match CherryFill's stored IDs

This allows you to match timing data from CherryFill with the full form responses in Tally.

Viewing Form Responses

CherryFill can display the actual form responses directly in the submission detail view:

  • Click on any submission to open the detail modal
  • The 'Form Responses' section shows all answered questions
  • This data is fetched live from Tally using your API connection

CSV Export with Form Data

When you export submissions to CSV, CherryFill includes:

  • CherryFill session data (duration, tab switches, flags)
  • Pre-exam respondent information (name, email, ID)
  • All Tally form responses as separate columns

This gives you a complete picture of each submission in a single file.

Troubleshooting

My forms aren't showing up

Make sure your Tally API key is valid and has access to your forms. Try disconnecting and reconnecting your Tally account in Settings > Integrations.

Form responses aren't appearing

Ensure the respondent submitted the Tally form before the session ended. If the form wasn't submitted, there won't be any response data to display.

Response ID doesn't match

The Response ID is case-sensitive. Make sure you're comparing the exact values. Export both CherryFill and Tally data to CSV for easier matching.
